Beaverlodge RCMP to operate as stand-alone detachment

Oct 23, 2017 | 10:45 AM

The Beaverlodge RCMP Detachment will officially operate as a stand-alone Detachment as of December 1, 2017.

Chief Superintendent John Ferguson says the decision to separate from the Grande Prairie Detachment was over a year in the making after a request from the Town of Beaverlodge.

“Changes that we are talking about here are really more administrative in nature because it really isn’t going to change the office within an operational capacity. It will still have the same number of members still patrolling the same area, still looking after things that they were doing prior to this change.”

He says the Beaverlodge Commander will be able to focus solely on policing now, adding there will be no financial implications for area residents.
