Grande Prairie’s Lorna McIlroy was presented with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers by the Lietenant Governor Lois Mitchell earlier this week.

“I would tell you that Lorna, she made significant and I think you could say wonderful sustained contributions, not just to Grande Prairie but also to Alberta because she was the president of the Alberta Horticultural Association.”

She adds McIlroy also volunteered as a judge with Communities in Bloom.

“She helped to develop these documents that are of the philosophy of judging. And I asked her, is this just for the Communities in Bloom and she said no, it is for any judging.”
