RCMP encourage residents to take measures to avoid copper wire thefts

Oct 23, 2017 | 11:37 AM

RCMP are asking both city and county residents to take measures to avoid incidents of copper wire thefts.

Since the start of the year, local Mounties say they have received numerous complaints, with some victims being out as much as thousands of dollars worth of copper wire.

Some things you can do to avoid thefts include installing security cameras, keeping all equipment and metals in locked buildings or well lit – fenced areas, and removing items like ladders, scaffolding and pallet piles that can be used as access points.

Anyone with information on recent copper wire theft occurrences is asked to call the Grande Prairie detachment or Crimestoppers.
