Nitehawk targeting November 18 opening

Nov 3, 2017 | 1:53 PM

Skiers and snowboarders are anxious to hit the slopes now that the first snow of the season has arrived.

Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park Assistant General Manager Johnathan Clarkson says their target opening date is November 18.

“That’s obviously weather-dependent. The guys in operations have already put out all the snow-making guns on the hill and they’re ready to go in the places that we’re going to be starting with, which will include the Aquatera Tube Zone, as well as the Terrain Park and bunny hill, just to get us started.”

The ski and snowboard swap goes this weekend.

Clarkson says more than 1200 people came to last year’s sale.

“(We) moved over $110,000 worth of gear in just four hours. It’s definitely an opportunity for families to get outfitted for another great season on the slopes. This year, we’re actually excited to have the Wapiti Nordic Centre joining with us on our ski swap, so we’re going to be adding Nordic equipment.”

Items to be sold can be dropped off at the ENTREC Centre from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight. The sale goes from 9 am to 1 pm Saturday.
