HIV North is warning of a rash of opioid poisonings since Sunday.
Executive Director Melissa Byers says most of the 11 overdoses reported to them were reversed with naloxone kits.
“Someone will come in and say so-and-so overdosed, we need to replace the kit, so that is where we are getting our information from and it is usually pretty accurate. We do not know if EMS responded to most of the calls, we don’t know what happened, we do know that individuals were given naloxone so reversals did happen.”
She says many of the drugs people are buying in Grande Prairie are not what they think they are.
