The Leaders of Tomorrow Awards will be handed out this Wednesday as part of National Volunteer Week.

The Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau Executive Director Carol-Anne Pasemko says their guest speaker this year is local born actor Alex Zahara.

“We wanted someone that people could connect with, who was born and raised in the area and that can say ‘dream your dream.”

She says a number of youth will be honoured.

“The recipients have all been notified that they are winners. This is how amazing these kids are, one mother phoned to get more information and she says to us ‘well she doesn’t even know she’s got it yet, she’s building a school in Tanzania’.”

Pasemko adds the luncheon is an opportunity for organizations to show their volunteers that they are appreciated.
