Apr 16, 2018 | 9:11 AM

EDMONTON- Police believe alcohol played a role in a late-night truck-pedestrian collision that killed a young woman.

Investigators say the truck left the scene after the accident happened just before 11 p.m. yesterday in a marked crossing at 113 Street and Kingsway Avenue.

They say an off-duty police officer who happened to be driving by witnessed the collision and followed the truck while providing information to an emergency dispatcher.

An arrest was made a short time later but there’s no immediate word on charges.
