Man arrested after another man suffers stab wound

One man was taken into custody and another seriously injured after a stabbing at a hotel on the city’s north-west side.

According to police, just before 8 a.m. Sunday, Grande Prairie RCMP were called to assist EMS with a male who had sustained a stab wound.

47-year-old Rex Parenteau of Manning was identified as the suspect and arrested without incident.

The victim, another 47-year-old man from Manning was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Parenteau has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

He was remanded into custody following a bail hearing and will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
