Province to reimburse some fertility patients

Jan 17, 2018 | 12:04 PM

EDMONTON- Alberta Health Services confirms it will reimburse some patients who are affected by higher fees at private fertility clinics.

The announcement comes after the provincial government announced last November that non-insured fertility services would no longer be offered at Edmonton’s Lois Hole Hospital after February 28th.

Patients who want to continue treatment must transfer to the private fertility clinic, Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine.

A Lois Hole spokeswoman says fees at the clinic are higher than those at the hospital, so A-H-S will cover the difference for one cycle of treatment completed before the end of this September.
