Semi-automatic rifle among items seized in north Lethbridge
LETHBRIDGE – Police believe it will help make the city safer, by taking a gun out of the hands of a suspected drug dealer.
The ALERT Lethbridge organized crime and gang team seized an SKS semi-automatic rifle and ammunition from a north side home Wednesday, Jan. 17. Also seized as part of the investigation were 138 g of cocaine, pills and a small amount of marijuana, $16,580 in cash and a 2016 pickup truck, alleged to be the proceeds of crime. ALERT said the gun and ammo were not legally possessed.
Tyson Shiels, 26, is charged with drug possession, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless storage of a firearm and ammunition.
The cash and vehicle will be reviewed by the office of civil forfeiture.
