DeJong wins, Balderston loses at Champions Cup

UPDATE (3:51 p.m.)

Delia DeJong beat Alina Patez 6-5 this afternoon. deJong scored a deuce in the seventh end, before a steal of one coming home to seal the victory. DeJong is now 1-1 and will next play tomorrow against Satsuki Fujisawa’s team from Japan. Fujisawa is not with the Pyeongchang bronze medalists at this event, so third Chinami Yoshida is filling in at skip. 

Jason Gunnlaughson downed Kurt Balderston 8-3. Balderston’s next game is against Kevin Koe tonight. 

Gunnlaughson beat Koe 6-3 last night.
 
Brad Gushue opened with an 8-3 win against Langley, BC’s Tyler Tardi. Fort St. John’s Sterling Middleton is the third for Tardi’s Canadian and World Junior Champions.
