Gas thefts in Calgary

May 3, 2018 | 8:06 AM

Some Calgary-area drivers have been facing costly repair bills after thieves drilled into their vehicles’ gas tanks to steal fuel.

Police say there have been at least 10 such thefts in the last year, with the most recent one taking place April 26th in a northwest neighbourhood.

Trucks and vans appear to be the most popular targets because of their high ground clearance.

The tanks can’t be repaired and must be replaced at a cost of between 15-hundred and 25-hundred dollars.
