Starter Stock Showdown set for this weekend at Hythe Motor Speedway

Aug 10, 2018 | 1:11 PM

The Hythe Motor Speedway’s Big Rig Collision Starter Stock Invitational is set to go this weekend.

Speedway President BJ Clark says the weekend is gearing up to be a good showing for racers and spectators.

“This is a great event for us. This is our Starter Stock Invitational. We welcome all the starter stock bombers, under cars, all the different classes that fall under this rule book to come and join us for a two-day total point championship weekend.”

Clark says he expects cars from both sides of the Peace, and some from central Alberta, to take part.

“We will see some Fort St. John and Taylor cars. We’ll hopefully see some cars from the Edmonton area. From all over Alberta and B.C.”

He adds spectators will not be disappointed with the event.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to come on out and check out the racers. It’s a great family sport and fun for all ages. We look forward to people coming out.”

Clark adds there are six separate categories of racing with each consisting of at least eight competitors. The main event will have up to 20.

Registration is open. For more information click here.

Admission is between $5 and 15.

Racing goes at 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
