Drillers looking to close year on winning note

Aug 11, 2018 | 7:00 AM

The Grande Prairie Drillers will conclude the 2018 season Saturday night at CKC Field looking to finish the year with back to back wins.

” We are playing at the new field at 9:00 p.m. We are going to play under the lights, ” shared Drillers Head Coach John Park.

Grande Prairie is coming off of their first win of the season in their last contest over the Airdrie Irish, winning 19-8 on the road.

However, going into their final game, Park knows it won’t be a walk in the park against the Calgary Wolfpack.

” Their Quarterback is amazing. He is very skilled. They do a lot of timed routes. A lot of clean routes and our defence has to come out again and play some really good football. “

Not only will Saturday night’s game be the final contest of the season, but it will also be when the Drillers retire the second number in team history.

Prior to kick off, the team will retire the jersey of former Driller Nathan Aldreds.

The retirement ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m. and kick off is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
