Take my fire extinguisher, please: blaze no laugher for Saskatchewan comics

Aug 13, 2018 | 8:45 AM

WADENA, Sask. — So these four Saskatchewan comedians drive into town, spot a motel fire and heroically put it out — no joke, it really happened.

Dylan Williamson and his friends Kelly Taylor, Benjamin Baus and Dustin Williamson were heading home from their comedy show in the Saskatchewan community of Stenan on Friday night when they saw the fire while passing through Wadena.

They stopped and banged on the windows of the Blue Willow Inn to alert people inside, then found a fire extinguisher and started putting out flames on the building’s exterior.

They also used jugs of water and had the situation under control in less than 10 minutes before firefighters arrived.

All nine guests got out safely and Wadena fire Chief Harold Narfason is commending the men for preventing what could have been a disaster.

Dylan Williamson says if they had shown up a minute later the fire could have been much worse.

“Ben got most of the fire out with the fire extinguisher, which was a miracle because it was already into the soffit,” said Williamson. “That night we were just at the right place at the right time.” (CTV Saskatoon)
