Germany arrests woman, finds 2nd infant’s body in baby probe
BERLIN — German police investigating the death of a baby whose body was found in a shipment of old clothes in Poland say they have arrested a woman and found another infant’s body.
Police in the western German city of Duisburg said the 35-year-old’s apartment was searched Saturday. She was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
Workers in Kielce, Poland, were sorting clothes from a container from Duisburg when they found the body of a newborn girl on Nov. 17. German investigators appealed to the public for any information.
Police said Sunday their investigation led them to the suspect’s apartment, where they found bloody bed sheets and the body of another baby girl hidden in sheets and plastic bags. They say the woman admitted giving birth to that baby but denied involvement in the first case.
