RCMP warn of rental property scam

Grande Prairie RCMP are warning residents of a scam going around in relation to rental properties.

RCMP have received multiple reports of fraud regarding rental properties since the start of 2019. These cases involve suspects seeking monetary deposits from victims responding to online classified ads for rental properties, in which the suspects do not own or live in. Once the suspect gets the money, they stop communication with the victim. 

RCMP are warning the public to be careful while conducting online transactions and verify purchases prior to any monetary exchange.

Police continue to investigate the incidents.
