New leak found on Rycroft water line

Mar 6, 2019 | 3:33 PM

UPDATE: (March 7, 9:15 a.m.) Crews are working at the site of the water main break on 52nd Street. Repairs are expected to be complete today. There will be disruptions to water service throughout the day in order to complete the repair. The intersection of 52nd Street and 47th Avenue will be closed during the repairs and people are asked to detour around the dig.

When the water distribution system is re-activated, most water lines will contain some air, discolouration, and sediment when opened. This is normal. It’s advised to open taps slowly as the regular steady flow will soon occur.

The boil water advisory and state of local emergency are still in effect.

(March 6, 8:42 p.m.) – Properties west of 52 Street in Rycroft once again have water, but the line break found this morning is still not repaired. Crews will resume work tomorrow at 9 a.m. to repair the break.

Though the water system is running, be advised that between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. the volume of water put out by the distribution system will be reduced. Residents can expect lower water pressure coming from their taps during that time.

The boil water advisory and local state of emergency remain in effect.

(March 6, 4:18 p.m.) – A new leak has been found on a water line in the Village of Rycroft.

The leak was discovered on 52 Street this morning around 9 a.m. and the village is saying they plan to shut off water temporarily to properties west of 52 Street until the leak can be repaired.

The water system will continue to run for the rest of the village, and residents are reminded that the boil water advisory and local state of emergency remain in effect.

The water system has been operating since around 6 p.m. Tuesday, but the village is asking residents to make water conservation efforts as the system is being overworked at this time.

An update will be provided when information becomes available.
