Mar 7, 2019 | 4:57 AM

Wednesday was cut down day at the 2019 Brier in Brandon Manitoba as the field went from 16 down to 8.

Out of the remaining 8 teams, 3 of them have ties to Alberta.

Beaverlodge’s Geoff Walker and Grande Prairie’s Tom Sallows on Team Canada continue to have a strong performance at the tournament.

The defending Brier Champions finished the round robin with a 6-1 record thanks to their 11-2 win over Nunavut.

Their lone loss came to Kevin Koe’s Team Alberta.

They are a perfect 7-0 entering the Championship pool.

In the other pool Brendan Bottcher’s Wildcard rink continues to play well following their play in game last Friday.

They finished the round robin with a 6-1 record after an 8-2 win over Saskatchewan in the afternoon draw.

All three rinks will begin the Championship Pool this afternoon.

Walker and Team Canada will battle the host Manitoba, and Kevin Koe and Team Alberta will meet Brendan Bottcher’s wildcard rink.
