Alberta Party will make vaccines mandatory for school children if they win election

Mar 8, 2019 | 5:32 AM

The Alberta Party says vaccines should be mandatory for students who attend publicly-funded schools.

And leader Stephen Mandel says if his party wins the provincial election it would bring in such a policy.

He says parents would be required to provide proof that a child’s immunizations are up to date.

Mandel says it is important to prevent the spread of serious illnesses such as measles, mumps, whooping cough and polio.

The requirement would apply to any school that receives public funding including public, separate and charter schools.
