GPREP closing Reception Centre at GPRC

Jun 5, 2019 | 4:59 PM

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership is closing its Reception Centre at GPRC today, as many evacuees have returned home and demand for the centre has dropped significantly.

Around 400 evacuees remain in Grande Prairie, as many communities are still under evacuation order. GPREP stands ready to open the Reception Centre at any time though, if fire activity picks up again and evacuees from places under evacuation alert, such as High Level, Keg River and Carcajou need to return to the city.

Evacuees still in Grande Prairie are being accommodated at local hotels and have all meals, medical and social services provided. GPREP says they are in daily contact with each hotel housing evacuees daily.
