GPREP launches community care program for those at risk during COVID-19

Mar 23, 2020 | 5:35 PM

The six partner municipalities of the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership have launched a program to ensure that residents will have access to essential items like food and medication during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents in the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley and the Village of Hythe will all have access to this program.

It is for citizens who are unable to visit stores and pharmacies because of self-isolation requirements, as directed by Alberta Health Services.

People without the financial support to purchase essential goods are also eligible for the program.

Residents interested in the program can call the COVID-19 Community Care Program Hotline at 780-830-7070. The hotline is available Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

When a request is made, the individual will receive a phone call back from the program within 24-hours of making their call. If the request is approved, a driver will deliver the goods.

Deliveries will be made within 72-hours. Those able to pay for their items can pay by cheque, debit and credit cards. Cash will not be accepted.

Details on the program and request form can be found at GPREP’s website.
