One killed in second collision near Sexsmith Monday

UPDATE: RCMP advise that emergency services have cleared the scene and traffic is once again moving in both lanes of Highway 2.

A collision between a truck and car about five kilometres north of Sexsmith has claimed the life of one person.

The collision happened on the northbound section of Highway 2 Monday, and preliminary investigation suggests both vehicles involved were travelling north at the time of the crash.

The adult male driver and lone occupant of the car was declared dead on scene. The two occupants of the truck were not physically injured.

Northbound traffic on Highway 2 is being diverted at Highway 674 as an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is helping with the investigation. Drivers can expect delays in the area.

The collision was reported Monday evening shortly after RCMP say another collision along Highway 2 near Township Road 734 sent one person to hospital.
