Aquatera project in the Swanavon area to continue until late October

Aug 4, 2023 | 2:26 PM

Aquatera’s work to install bigger sewer lines and replace water mains along 101 Street is expected to be finished by the end of October.

Development manager Brad Vall says the $9 million project is being done to boost growth and development downtown.

“As landmarks, basically from Swanavon School, the north side of Swanavon School at 90 Avenue, up to (the) Bonnetts (Energy Centre). (This) basically ties in with the work the city previously did in the downtown area.”

Vall is referring to the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscape Project that was done on 100 and 101 Avenues.

He adds another part of this project is coming next year.

“In 2024, there will be another phase of this project that again ties into the work in the downtown area and extends north to 108 Avenue.”

“It will actually deviate to 102 Street at 104 Avenue.”

Vall says even with the rain, the work remains on schedule.

He adds all the contractors working on this project are local, except for the one doing the drilling under the railway tracks.
