Vigen ranks #1 in Battle of the North opening night

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association is in Dawson Creek, B.C. for the Battle of the North.

Wednesday night racetrack conditions were good despite rainfall earlier in the day.

2019’s Battle of the North Champion Chanse Vigen opened up the 2023 edition with the top time of the night of 1:16.31.

Vigen was 15 one-hundredths of a second over Doug Irvine who placed second on the night. Chad Fike was third, Jamie Laboucane fourth, and Chance Thomson fifth.

The top four in the aggregate after Saturday will run in the Battle of the North’s Championship Final Heat on Sunday, with the winner taking home $30,000.
