Good Shepherd Teacher provincially recognized for music

Sep 27, 2023 | 1:05 PM

A long-standing teacher at Good Shepherd School in Peace River is being provincially recognized for her contributions to music.

Nicola Quigley was nominated for the honor by her peers with the Alberta Orff Association; a group that teaches music using a combination of movement, drama, and speech.

The Alberta Music Advocacy Alliance’s (AMAA) Monthly spotlight series will be doing a profile on Quigley, celebrating all she does for music inside her community.

In a media release, Quigley says: “showing children the beauty of music and how it brings us all together is a passion, and it’s been a blessing to be able to share my love of music with our students for the last 30-plus years.”

HFCRD Superintendent Betty Turpin added in the same release, “It’s hard to find someone with as much energy and passion for teaching music to our students, so this is a well-deserved recognition for a great teacher and a wonderful woman.”
