National Addictions Awareness Week

Teressa Sargent Hall hosts Opioids Don’t Discriminate for NAAW

Nov 17, 2023 | 1:10 PM

Starting on Sunday, November 19, the City of Grande Prairie will be observing National Addictions Awareness Week. (NAAW)

The City says the goal of this campaign is to increase public understanding and reduce stigma around addiction and substance abuse.

In conjunction with NAAW, the Teressa Sargent Hall will be holding a free-to-attend, Opioids Don’t Discriminate exhibit, targeted towards teens and adults.

The exhibit will also feature a local info fair, with community support for mental health and addiction on hand, and available to the public.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in the release; “Opioids Don’t Discriminate is more than just an exhibit, it’s an experience that can change perceptions and support a deeper understanding of the indiscriminate nature of opioids.”

“We invite everyone to engage with this exhibit and the accompanying information to learn, connect, and become part of the solution in our community.”

Opioids Don’t Discriminate will be open to the public during the following hours:

  • Tuesday, November 21: 3-7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 22: 2-7 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 23: 2-7 p.m.
  • Friday, November 24: 2-5 p.m.
