CHORZÓW — Ethan Katzberg and Camryn Rogers continued Canada’s hammer throw dominance with wins Sunday at the Silesia Diamond League.

Katzberg, from Nanaimo, B.C., topped the men’s field with his best throw of 82.92 metres in the fifth of six rounds.

After missing on his third attempt, Katzberg’s other five throws were all better than the second-place mark of 81.25 metres by Merlin Hummel of Germany. Bence Halasz of Hungary was third at 79.44 metres.

Rogers, from Richmond, B.C., won with her best throw of 77.09 metres in the fourth round.

All but Rogers’ final attempt eclipsed the second-place thrown of 75.23 metres from DeAnna Price of the United States. Sara Fantini of Italy was third at 71.95 metres.

Katzberg and Rogers are both reigning Olympic champions and topped the podium at the last two world championships. They also took gold at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Also Sunday, veteran sprinter Andre De Grasse of Markham, Ont., finished sixth in the men’s 100 metres.
