Marcus Howard, Cauchy Muamba among four veterans release by Edmonton Eskimos
EDMONTON — American defensive lineman Marcus Howard and Canadian safety Cauchy Muamba were among four veterans released Monday by the Edmonton Eskimos.
Also let go were Canadian offensive lineman Danny Groulx and American defensive lineman Phillip Hunt. Both Hunt and Muamba were scheduled to become free agents Feb. 13 but can now sign with any CFL team.
Edmonton also signed rookie American running back Korliss Marshall.
Howard, 32, spent seven seasons with the Eskimos, helping them win the ’15 Grey Cup. The six-foot-one, 245-pound Howard registered 77 tackles and 36 sacks while with Edmonton but was limited to just one tackle over five games last year.
