Schellenberg looking to make impact with new club

Dec 5, 2018 | 6:47 AM

Things have changed quite significantly over the course of a week and a half for Grande Prairie product Austin Schellenberg.

Schellenberg was in the midst of his 2nd season with the Western Hockey League’s Red Deer Rebels where had contributed a goal and six assists.

However, now the Grande Prairie product finds himself in a different situation.

Schellenberg was a part of a massive trade between the Rebels and Kootenay Ice.

As part of an 11-asset trade, the Rebels acquired a pair of forwards from the Kootenay Ice in Dallas Stars prospect Brett Davis and 19-year-old forward Cameron Hausinger.

In return, the Ice received 18-year-old forward Austin Schellenberg, 17-year-old forwards River Fahey and Justin Svenson as well as 15-year-old forward Chase Bertholet, an unsigned prospect of the Rebels.

Schellenberg played his first two games with the Ice this past weekend and will be back on the ice this evening when they welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
