Theft and other charges have been laid after police say two horses that belonged to an Alberta woman were sold to a slaughterhouse and processed without her knowledge.
Mounties say the woman had been boarding the horses at a farm near Stirling for five years, but was told last month she had to find a new stable by the end of April because the farm’s owner had died.
She was told the animals had been sold when she went to pick them up last Saturday, and livestock investigators learned they had been sold to a slaughterhouse in Fort MacLeod by a man who claimed to be their owner.
Wayne Jubb has been released from custody and will appear in Lethbridge provincial court on May 23rd.
