Fairview RCMP, community partners & volunteers locate missing child

May 12, 2025 | 11:17 AM

Fairview RCMP have reported that after an overnight search, they have located a missing two-year-old child safe and in good health.

Fairview Mounties received a report yesterday evening, (Sunday, May 11, at 10:24 p.m.) and responded to a rural residence in Clear Hills County.

Fairview RCMP did alert the RCMP Real Time Operation Centre (ROTC) of its ongoing search, and as a result multiple partners and volunteers were called in to assist.

Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services, British Colombia RCMP Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) members, the Worsley Fire Department, Grande Prairie Technical Search & Rescue and over 100 community volunteers attended the residence and continued the search overnight.

At 6:05 a.m. this morning (Monday, May 12) GP Technical Search and Rescue’s helicopter spotted the child a kilometre away from it’s home, after wandering off the night before.

They have now been reunited with their family.

In the release, Fairview RCMP detachment Constable, Lucas Lehman thanked everyone who answered their call for help; “this is a fine example of partners and community coming together to achieve an important goal.”
