Bonspiel still needs teams

Teams are still needed for this weekend’s Andrea Vavrek Bonspiel 4 Hope to be held in Sexsmith.
 
Organizer Larry Vavrek says that is especially true for junior teams.
 
“We have divided it up a little bit where we can let the juniors have their own thing going at the same time as the regular curling. Juniors is 18 and under and it doesn’t have to be mixed, it can be anybody.”
 
He adds there are also tickets left for the banquet and speakers Saturday. Among the speakers will be someone who has lived for decades with a donated kidney.
 
“She is celebrating 45 years with a new kidney and this is 50 years of organ donation in Alberta. This lady, 45 years with a kidney, she proves that it works.
 
Vavrek says doctors and other organ recipients will also be giving presentations.
 
“There will be a little girl speaking. She will be speaking on how, 11 years ago, she got her liver.”
