Storm snap losing skid against Whitecourt

Dec 21, 2017 | 9:52 AM

There is no place like home, and for the Grande Prairie Storm, home is where they play their best hockey

Wednesday night at Revolution Place the Storm battled their highway 43 rivals, the Whitecourt Wolverines.

Grande Prairie trailed 3-2 early in the third period, but they didn’t go away. The Storm would receive a man advantage near the midway point of the stanza and they would capitalize as Edouard Michaud would net his 23rd goal of the season to tie up the game.

Overtime would solve nothing, and for the second straight contest between these two rivals, they would head to a shootout.

Charles-Olivier Levesque would shut the door stopping all three Wolverine shooters, and Connor Blake would find the back of the net to give the Storm the 4-3 victory, and the extra point.

The win snaps Grande Prairie’s three-game losing streak and sends them into the holiday break on a winning note.

Grande Prairie will now be off until December 29th when they host the Spruce Grove Saints.
