Security to be increased at Revolution Place

Jan 29, 2018 | 4:25 PM

Revolution Place is beefing up security at its concerts and major events.

Starting on February 9, hand-held security wands will be incorporated into the security scanning process.  Event goers are asked to arrive a bit earlier as this change could mean longer wait times to get inside the building.

“We work very hard each and every day to ensure that our guests are safe and fully enjoy the events they attend,” says Revolution Place General Manager, Scott Clark. “To that end, we are pleased to introduce these enhanced security measures for Revolution Place and the Bowes Event Centre.”

Knives and weapons are strictly prohibited from the event centre at all times. Guests are reminded to leave pocket knives and other dangerous paraphernalia at home.

“The safety of our community is always at the forefront of our concerns”, says Cpl. Shawn Graham of the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment. “The use of hand held metal detectors in public venues as a safety measure is a proactive step towards protection of the citizens of Grande Prairie.”

On February 16, hockey fans may encounter brief delays when entering Revolution Place as there is a scheduled performance in the Bowes Event Centre, as well as a Storm hockey game that evening.  All guests entering, for either event, will be subject to the new security scanning procedure.
