Court Update: Guilty plea in Snider murder, stay of proceedings in Pisch shooting

Feb 6, 2018 | 4:33 AM

One of the four people charged after the 2015 murder of Adrian Snider has pleaded guilty.

Dominic Decque admitted to a reduced count of manslaughter in Grande Prairie court of Queen’s Bench Monday after originally being charged with murder.

In an agreed statement of facts, the crown told the court that Snider was one of several people working for a drug and prostitution ring when he was suspected of stealing $11,500 from the operation.

Decque and another man were told to “deal with Snider.” They later attacked him in a home they all shared. Snider was struck in the head five times with a pipe and died from his injuries. The statement did not specify who swung the pipe.

Sentencing is set for April.

Three other people have also been charged. Tommy Paul is set to stand trial for murder later this month. Patrick Decque, who is Dominic’s brother, is to stand trial in April on manslaughter and accessory to murder charges. Courtney McQuinn, who was in a relationship with Dominic Decque at the time of Snider’s death, is also facing an accessory charge. A preliminary hearing is set for August.

Stay in Pish shooting

A stay of proceedings is now in place in a Grande Prairie murder case.

Thomas Sherwood Sutton had been facing a charge of murder, along with a pair of firearms counts, in relation to the shooting death of Devin Pisch.

The 27-year-old Grande Prairie man was killed June 25, 2014, at the Cutbank area south of Grande Prairie.

Sutton was arrested and charged a year later.

A stay of proceedings means the Crown has one year to come up with more evidence, or the charges will be withdrawn.
