Canada’s Agriculture Day today

Feb 13, 2018 | 4:30 AM

Today is Canada’s Agriculture Day, one meant to celebrate all things to do with food production.

Agriculture More Than Ever Manager Candace Hill says this is a chance for people in the industry to talk about what they do.

“To celebrate the food that they love and to reach outside of the Canadian agriculture industry to consumers who are genuinely curious about how food is produced and (about) farming practices. We essentially want to bridge the gap between Canadian agriculture and people outside of agriculture.”

She adds the occasion seems to be attracting a following.

“There were some people who missed out on last year’s celebration. We had conversations with them after and so we anticipate that this year, there will be even more farmers and industry groups and people who are proud to be working in Canadian agriculture who are going to participate either by social media or having events or having a conversation.”

This is the second time a day has been set aside as Canada’s Agriculture Day. The first was February 16, 2017.

There are many things on twitter about the day at #CdnAgDay.
