Athletics look to stay alive in NPHL playoffs

The North Peace Hockey League playoffs will resume tonight with a pair of games on the schedule.

The Grande Prairie Athletics will host the Fort St.John Flyers in the West Division double round robin.

The Athletics need a win tonight if they want to stay in the hunt for a berth in the NPHL league final.

In the East Division, the final between Falher and High Prairie gets underway. 

Game one of the best of seven series goes tonight in Falher.

 

In other NPHL news, the league has announced their year-end awards.

Most Valuable Player – Rick Cleaver of Fort St.John & Braden Gamble of Manning.

Rookie of the Year – Jacob Anderson of High Prairie

Coach of the Year – Andrew Leriger of Fort St.John

Most Gentlemanly Player – Ty Wiebe of Grimshaw

Best Goaltender – Braden Gamble of Manning

Best Defenceman – Joel Pelletier of Falher & Kevin Swales of Dawson Creek

Best Centre – Fred Tanguay of Dawson Creek

Best Right Wing – Pat Rowan of Falher

Best Left Wing – Rick Cleaver of Fort St.John
