A wanted man nabbed by some residents of Clear Hills County in November of 2016 has been handed a jail sentence by a Peace River court.

Alberta Justice says Malcolm Testawits has been given a three-and-a-half year sentence after pleading guilty to several charges, including Robbery, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Impersonating a Peace Officer.

He was wanted after an incident in October 2016 where a Fairview RCMP vehicle was stolen and an officer fired their gun. He was wanted on 30 outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.

Testawits has been given a year-and-a-half credit for time already spent in custody, leaving a little over two years left to serve.

Fleeing police leads to jail sentence for Grande Prairie man

Alberta Justice says a Grande Prairie man has been given a 32-month jail sentence after an incident last July where a vehicle sped away from police.

Tyler Meagher pleaded guilty to Evading a Police Officer, Failure to Stop a Vehicle and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges Monday in Grande Prairie court. He will be given 12 months credit for time already spent in jail.

On July 7 last year, RCMP tried to stop a vehicle that sped away instead of pulling over.

Police did not give chase out of concerns for public safety, but were able to locate the vehicle later.

Meagher had originally been facing nine charges.
