No seeding yet in the County of Grande Prairie

County of Grande Prairie Ag. Fieldman Sonja Raven says seeding in the County has not started yet.
“Things are coming along. Some land is draining. The wind, of course, is always helping. We’re looking for a little bit warmer soil temperatures and just a little bit more drainage to happen. (We’ve) still got some snow in the bush and that’s keeping things a little on the wet side.”
She adds some County farmers are still dealing with flooded land.
“Some places in the west (are) really wet. (There’s) still lots of snow in the bush. Other places, they’re not too bad. Anything that has some topography, that helps a lot, but if you’re in the lower, flatter areas, it’s going to take a little while for that stuff to drain off.”
Raven says evening temperatures are still a bit cool for most crops.
