Alberta Summer Games track and field roster set for the Peace Region

May 15, 2018 | 1:15 PM

The track and field teams for the 2018 Alberta Summer Games are set.

The President of the Peace Country Wolves Athletics Club Bill Corcoran says he was pleased with how his competitors performed, especially the distance runners.

“Brandon Tufford ran four really good races, Chris Nelissen did well as well and Kobe Grocholski had a really good 1,500 (metre race).”

The roster has a good blend of athletes from all over the Peace Region.

“We had a good representation from Grande Prairie and Beaverlodge,” said Corcoran. “We had a handful from Peace River, one kid from Fairview, another one from La Crete and a few from High Level. So, it’s nice to see people from all around the zone make the team.”

Corcoran says while he will be assisting with running the Games this year, athletes from years past will be on hand to coach.

“It’s one of the things we try to do with Alberta Games, is develop coaches as well as the athletes. So, I find it really exciting that we have some of these younger people who are involved with coaching this year.”
