Economy turnaround paves way for Entrepreneur Centre: ATB Chief Financial Economist

May 15, 2018 | 5:10 PM

Grande Prairie is a bright spot on the map when it comes to the economy bouncing back in Alberta and that’s the reasoning behind an Entrepreneur Centre being set up in the city by ATB Financial.

Chief Financial Economist Todd Hirsch says the Swan City continues to move ahead despite challenges.

“Grande Prairie, of all of the places I travel to in Alberta, it is one that we are seeing more clear evidence of a turnaround. In other words, the economy is looking brighter than a year ago. Entrepreneurs are responding. We are seeing new businesses open up,” said Hirsch.

This is the fourth centre of its kind as there is one in Lethbridge, Edmonton, and Calgary. Hirsch says it is meant to help nourish start-up businesses and help smaller ones grow.

“If you are interested in starting a new business, there are people who can point you in the right direction. If you need help putting together a business plan. If you are interested in financing or how to go about getting financing for a small business, that is what the Entrepreneur Centre is all about.”
