Construction update on the GPRH

May 16, 2018 | 10:40 AM

Grande Prairie-Wapiti MLA Wayne Drysdale asked for an update on construction of the Regional Hospital during question period in the Alberta Legislature Monday.

Drysdale asked if the NDP government would let residents know if the hospital wouldn’t open next year as planned.

Government House Leader Brian Mason responded.

“I can assure the house and people of Grande Prairie that everything is being done to diligently complete this very difficult project which unfortunately was very badly planned by the previous government and will provide continuous updates on the progress of the project.”

Mason was also questioned about the parkade.

“There’s many difficulties associated with poor planning related to that particular hospital, and the infrastructure department officials have been working very hard in order to remedy those things.”

He says crews right now are finishing the interior of the building including mechanical, electrical and drywall work as well as landscaping.

The hospital is scheduled to open in 2019.
