May 23, 2018 | 10:08 AM

The Grande Prairie Drillers will open their 2018 season this weekend at home against the Airdrie Irish.

The club has been busy preparing for the upcoming season, and as Head Coach John Park explains they are seeing plenty of positives ahead of their campaign.

” We are getting ready. we’re practising Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 7 until 9. We are getting a decent amount of numbers. We got good numbers on Tuesday here, and the guys are ready for the season to start right away. “

Despite getting good numbers at practice the last couple of weeks, Park added they are still looking for some players for the upcoming year at some key positions.

” We are definitely still looking for players. The more the marrier. If you have experience, if you don’t have experience, we welcome everybody. Just because we have a roster and we have a lot of guys committed, but of course we live in Alberta and it’s a working-class group of guys. “

Park concluded by saying they are specifically looking for more lineman.

Anyone potentially interested in playing with the Drillers this season, they can reach out to Park, or any of the Drillers social media platforms.

The Drillers will play their first game of the season Saturday at home at 6:00 p.m.
