BC Peace missing person case now a murder investigation

May 25, 2018 | 11:06 AM

What started as suspicious fires and a missing person case in the Charlie Lake area has now turned into a murder investigation.

On March 30, Fort St. John RCMP were called to a home fire just after 3 a.m. and were called to a vehicle fire around 6:30 a.m.

They then started looking for the owner of both, 55-year-old John Banky.

Police now say a body has been found and identified as Banky by the BC Coroners Service.

Details on where and when his remains were discovered have not been released.

Anyone with information on this can contact Fort St. John RCMP 250-787-8140  or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 222-8477.
