Summer music festival cancelled after ten years in Grande Prairie

Jun 11, 2018 | 5:10 AM

After a decade in Grande Prairie, the East Coast Garden Party and all its festivities have been cancelled for this summer.

Organizers took to social media to break the news saying uncertainty in city funding this year, not receiving as much funding last year, a lack of financial commitment from Alberta Tourism plus the high cost to bring in artists led to the decision.

They also cited having to change festival dates due to the Alberta Summer Games July 19-22.

Along with thanking everyone for their support and volunteer hours, there is a promise of exciting things next year.
