BERNIER DEMOTED FROM TORY SHADOW CABINET
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has removed Quebec MP Maxime Bernier from his role as the party’s innovation critic. A senior Conservative source tells The Canadian Press the decision was made after Scheer was informed that Bernier had posted a chapter from his forthcoming book on his personal website. The chapter, which deals with supply management, is the same one released publicly in April. In a tweet Tuesday night, Bernier says “There is nothing new” about it. It’s the latest flareup in a continuing clash between the Conservative leader and the man he beat out for the position a year ago. Bernier has been replaced in the innovation post by science critic Matt Jeneroux on an interim basis.
