Lemieux excited to return to Grande Prairie region

Jun 17, 2018 | 10:33 AM

A former city fire chief who took a job in Strathcona County will be heading back this way.

Dan Lemieux has accepted the role as the County of Grande Prairie’s Community Services Director.

“We still have quite a bit of family in Grande Prairie and in the Grande Prairie region.  Friends are what makes a community and we have many, many friends in Grande Prairie and we really miss Grande Prairie.  So it was a great opportunity that presented itself with the County of Grande Prairie, and Cheryl and I are really looking forward to coming back home.”

Lemieux was with the city for 27 years before spending the last year as Director of Emergency Services and Fire Chief for Strathcona County.

He says he’s really looking forward to the new job.

“I will be overseeing Enforcement Services, the fire service, Family and Community Support Services, and Parks and Recreation.  I have overseen all of those departments in the past as a member of the management team with the Coty of Grande Prairie. The only department that I need to spend some time to learn about is Agriculture because that is something that will be new for me, but I am looking forward to the challenge.”

Lemieux will start August 7th and is taking over from Kathleen Turner
