Crews to remove falling debris on Hwy 2 Thursday

Jul 4, 2018 | 3:19 PM

Today and tomorrow there will be speed and lane reductions on Highway 2 as crews will be removing falling debris from the Dunvegan area.

Traffic control will be in place while the work is being done. Speed will be reduced to 50 kilometres per hour starting today.  Tomorrow (Thursday) morning around 10 a.m. the highway will be closed for about 30 minutes in order to safely remove the debris.

The province says material from the hill, which is north of Rycroft and south of Fairview, has been steadily falling since late June.

Transportation will be using seismic equipment to remove the debris and this preventative measure will stop further material from falling onto the highway.
