500 more volunteers needed for Alberta Summer Games

Jul 5, 2018 | 5:17 AM

With two weeks left until the Alberta Summer Games begin, organizers are making a call out for last-minute volunteers.

According to Lindsey McNeil, the Games Manager for the event, the games could run smoothly with the 1,000 people they already have signed up, but they are looking for an additional 500 people to donate their time.

“We can make it work with that number. That 1,500 number is kind of ideal. It will make sure that our volunteers don’t end up fatigued,” said McNeil.

“We are doing our best to keep our shifts between four and six hours long. With that amount, it is a lot easier to do.”

Specialized volunteers are also sought.

“Anybody with medical training would be immensely helpful. We want to make sure all of the athletes feel safe and feel like they have the medical support that they need.”

McNeil encourages people that want to help out to contact their office or visit their website
